Hi, I'm using the "Highcharts maps from SVG sources" tool (
http://www.highcharts.com/studies/map-from-svg.htm) to generate shape data from an SVG. The SVG is based on the "United States of America" (
http://code.highcharts.com/mapdata/coun ... us-all.svg), but with added groups. When I load this SVG into converter, the result shows some shapes as out of alignment (MA, MI, WI, etc.).
Another, simpler, test is to...
- Download a fresh copy of the SVG (http://code.highcharts.com/mapdata/coun ... us-all.svg).
- Open it in Inkscape.
- Ungroup the states.
- Save the SVG and copy/paste the source into the converter.
You'll see that doing just that causes some shapes to fall out of alignment - yet they look correct in Inkscape.
EDIT: This appears to only affect states which have "islands"...
- Select MI and then choose Path > Break Apart.
- Select Object > Group.
- Save, and reload it into the converter, MI looks better.
Any idea how to prevent/fix this?
