Well, if you wait long enough, browser bugs manage to get fixed. No guarantee they won't reappear, of course.
Firefox 34 for Windows now works properly for both these cases. The regular image expander doesn't get mangled during mouseover, and the HTML image expander with a graphic controlbar now also seems to be immune to the former fault.
