Deep drill in stacked column chart?

Postby MickeM » Tue Feb 13, 2018 5:53 pm

Is this possible?

I like to create a stacked column chart with three level drill down functionality.
First level
one column for each year (2016, 2017, 2018)
Each year includes number of cars / branding (stacking part).
Example:
2016: Opel=100, Audi=150, Seat=125.
2017: Opel=53, Audi=98, Seat=101.
2018: Opel=42, Audi=63, Seat=45.

When clicking on one of the first level stacks a drill is performed to the second level.
Second level
One column for each month of the selected year.
Each month includes number of cars / branding (stacking part).
Example:
2016-Jan: Opel=75, Audi=50, Seat=12.
2016-Feb: Opel=25, Audi=100, Seat=113.
..
2016-Dec: Opel=23, Audi=71, Seat=42.

When clicking on one of the second level stacks a drill is performed to the third level.
Third level
One column for each day of the selected month.
Each day includes number of cars / branding (stacking part).
Example:
2016-Jan-01: Opel=25, Audi=10, Seat=3.
2016-Jan-02: Opel=50, Audi=20, Seat=4.
2016-Jan-03: Opel=0, Audi=20, Seat=5.
..
2016-Jan-31: Opel=78, Audi=28, Seat=41.

I have tried a couple of things without any luck.
With basic drill I loose the stacked column property.
And I'm not able to drill to third level in async mode.

Hi MickeM,

Yes, it is possible, but but it requires a bit of customization. Like suggested in this stackoverflow question: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/328 ... -bar-chart
you can use addSingleSeriesAsDrilldown and internal applyDrilldown methods, but on series click event. Please try the solution like in the live demo.

API Reference: https://api.highcharts.com/class-refere ... sDrilldown
